Offshore Car Registration

For overseas vehicle registration in Vanuatu the following documents are required:

1. Invoice for the Vehicle
2. Registration Certificate
3. Proof of 3rd Party Insurance
4. Road Worthiness Certificate or mechanics letter of safety
5. Colour Photo of Vehicle
6. Colour Photo of Owner
7. Copy of Owner's Drivers License
8. Copy of Owner's Passport

Additional Information

• There are no taxes linked with registration of your Vehicle in Vanuatu.

• The cost of registration does not depend on the price or age of the vehicle, nor on the capacity of its engine.

• It is not required to present the vehicle at the place of registration - a photo and documents certified by Notary Public are sufficient.

• Owner of the vehicle may be a foreigner.

• Number plates can be made to fit your vehicle, by request.

• The procedure of registration can be accomplished in a matter of weeks.

All Documents must be submitted in English. If issued in other languages, a translation is required. Please ask us for details if you are unsure.

Although Vanuatu registration plates are restricted to numbers only, you can request personalized plates for a small additional cost. As the Vanuatu registry is very small with only thousands of vehicles having been registered here, you may obtain a registration plate that would be popular or extremely expensive in your country. You may also have special wording placed above the number to meet your specific needs or to introduce your special number.

The registration cost includes registration card, window label, two number plates and delivery by DHL or FedEx. An annual fee is due every January, regardless of registration date.

Insurance:

While we cannot advise you of a particular insurance company to use, most people find that they are able to insure the vehicle based on the chassis and or engine number. Only 3rd Party Insurance is required to obtain a Vanuatu Vehicle Registration.
